Oversimplified Example: Testing Human Response Time Under Pressure

This is a simplified experiment for the beginner and to get you started on the series set.

What you’re testing

How does human response time change under cognitive load or pressure?

Materials

  • Phone timer or stopwatch
  • Simple reaction task (tap screen, catch object, etc.)
  • Optional distraction (music, conversation, multitasking)

Method

  1. Perform a simple reaction test (tap when ready)
  2. Repeat while distracted
  3. Compare timing differences
  4. Repeat multiple rounds

What you will see

  • Slower reactions under distraction
  • Inconsistent performance
  • Gradual improvement with repetition

Why it works (simple explanation)

The brain prioritises attention and filtering before motor response.
