About Professor Chris Gwenin

My academic journey began at Bangor University, where I first cultivated a passion for clear, inclusive communication and cross-cultural engagement. That foundation expanded significantly at Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU), where I immersed myself in Chinese academic contexts and deepened my mentorship approach to support international scholars.

Building on those insights, I progressed to Abertay University, where I deepened my engagement with interdisciplinary research and academic communication. Working across domains, from applied sciences to design and communication. I contributed to initiatives that bridged distinct scholarly traditions and fostered collaboration between researchers with diverse methodological backgrounds. This phase sharpened my ability to synthesise complex research into accessible formats and reinforced my commitment to inclusive, cross-disciplinary practices that resonate across global academic contexts.

Deconvolution is a platform dedicated to sharing and deconvoluting state of the art science: making intricate research more understandable, accessible, and impactful. The term “deconvoluting” reflects both a technical metaphor, borrowing from signal processing and imaging, where deconvolution clarifies blurred data, and a broader mission: to strip away jargon, untangle complexity, and reveal the core insights that can inspire and empower others. Through this lens, Deconvolution aims to amplify underrepresented science and foster a more inclusive, informed student community.
